Cuban president Miguel Díaz Canel arrives in Russia on a working visit

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel arrived in Russia on Tuesday on a working visit and to participate for the first time in person in an expanded meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, Prensa Latina reported.

The head of State is heading his country’s delegation to the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting, at which Cuba has had the status of Observer State of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) since 2020.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel will attend for the first time an expanded meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, which will take place on May 8, Russian Presidential Advisor Yuri Ushakov said on Tuesday.

“Regarding Cuba, I mentioned that (the president of Cuba) will participate as an observer in a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. By the way, this will be the first time that he attends the Council in person. Before that, he had always joined via video conference or sent a video message,” Ushakov told reporters.
