US blocks medical aid to Cuba in show of ‘wild west brutality’.

Cuba has blasted the continuing US economic blockade warning of a “violation of human rights” after a shipment of vital medical aid from China was stopped from reaching the country on Tuesday.

Washington was accused of acting with “Wild West brutality,” using the Covid-19 outbreak as an opportunity to “strangle the Cuban Revolution.”

“Cuba denounces the fact that medical supplies from Alibaba Foundation to help combat Covid-19 have not arrived in the country due to the criminal US blockade against the island nation,” President Miguel Canel-Diaz blasted.

24 British MPs sign Open Letter calling on UK Government to take action on US blockade of Cuba.

At the time of writing this article, 24 members of parliament, across various parties in the UK, have now signed an open letter asking for the US blockade to be lifted, at least temporarily, to help Cuba fight the coronavirus at home and abroad.

Grahame Morris MP signed the open letter, adding, “it’s time for the international community to reciprocate and to lift the U.S. imposed blockade and end the embargo at the very least on a temporary basis.”

As the world fights an international battle against the coronavirus pandemic, Cuba has once again proved itself a paragon of internationalism and solidarity.

Not only is the island is combating the virus at home, with 212 confirmed cases, six deaths and more than 3,000 patients under observation as of April 2, it is also sending teams of nurses and doctors to support foreign health services overwhelmed by the scale of the crisis.

Cuban medical brigades have already arrived in 14 countries, including Italy, Venezuela, Andorra, Belize, Angola and Nicaragua.

Washington blocks shipment of medical donation from Chinese company Ali Baba to Cuba.






The Cuban ambassador to China, Carlos Miguel Pereira, denounced Wednesday that the economic, financial and commercial blockade by the United States prevents the Alibaba company from making a donation to the island to combat the COVID-19.

According to the diplomat, the U.S. firm contracted to transport to the Caribbean nation a batch of face masks and diagnostic kits of the deadly disease, at the last minute declined to make the delivery, arguing regulations of the blockade.

21 new cases of COVID-19 in Cuba, rapid tests conducted island-wide






Cuba reported on Thursday 21 new cases of COVID-19, bringing to 233 the cases diagnosed on the island.

The new cases include 20 Cubans and one foreign citizen.

In the daily briefing on the development of the epidemic on the island, the head of Epidemiology at the Ministry of Public Affairs, Dr. Francisco Duran, said that  2320 people remain hospitalized, of whom 1140 are suspects.

Cuban foreign minister thanks solidarity with Cuba amid COVID-19.





Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla thanked Wednesday the many voices that in the United States and other parts of the world are demanding, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on the island. Rodriguez reaffirmed that this is a genocidal policy that causes the Caribbean nation severe economic and humanitarian damage and violates the human rights of an entire people.

Reunen firmas en Reino Unido para solicitar al gobierno que exija a Estados Unidos el fin del bloqueo contra Cuba. (+Fotos)






En iniciativa promovida por la Campaña de Solidaridad con Cuba en el Reino Unido, se han acumulado desde el 28 de marzo hasta la fecha, 6 mil 547 firmas en una carta online abierta para solicitar al gobierno británico que exija el levantamiento del bloqueo de Estados Unidos contra Cuba; en retribución al apoyo de la isla en la lucha global contra la COVID-19.

La misiva refiere  que mientras el mundo lucha en una batalla internacional contra la pandemia del coronavirus, Cuba ha demostrado una vez más ser un modelo de internacionalismo y solidaridad.

Cuba Solidarity Network in US demands end to blockade. (+Video)






The Cuba Solidarity Network in the United States demanded an end to the economic blockade against the Caribbean island in a statement published on local media.

The communiqué acknowledges Cuba’s medical work to fight the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus by sending thousands of health professionals to more than a dozen countries in Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Cuba on Phase-2 on the fight against COVID-19.

Cuba reported on Saturday 39 new cases of COVID-19 and its 3rd death.

On the Saturday briefing on the progress of the epidemic on the island, Doctor Francisco Duran, chief of Epidemiology at the Ministry of Public Health, informed that all new cases and the deceased are Cubans.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister receives Cuban medical brigade.







The Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves, received on Thursday a medical brigade from Cuba that will help his country deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

With applause and exclamations of ‘long live Cuba and long live Venezuela,’ the Vincentians expressed their gratitude and admiration for the arrival of the Cuban Health personnel, who came on a plane owned by the Venezuelan airline Conviasa.
