Follow in the footsteps of one of America’s greatest writers as Havana celebrates its 500th anniversary

“Ambos Mundos was where Hemingway’s love affair with Cuba all started,” said Esperanza, the custodian of the legendary author’s former hotel room in Havana. I had unwittingly picked up Cuba’s Hemingway trail right at its source – a fraying Art Deco hotel in the heart of the Unesco-listed old quarter.

From behind Hemingway’s typewriter in room 511, where he wrote three novels standing up because of an old knee injury from the war, I could see the terracotta rooftops sliding off towards the old harbour, with the currents of the “great blue river”, as he called the Gulf Stream, threading through the ocean beyond. Trinidad, the place to experience Cuba’s diversity

Trinidad boasts four of the six principal tourist destinations in the province of Sancti Spíritus, in the center of the island. It is not only one of the best preserved colonial cities in the Caribbean, but also offers the beach at Ancón, one of the most popular on the southern coast of Cuba, as well as natural sites like Topes de Collantes and the Valle de los Ingenios, declared a World Heritage Site in 1988 by the United Nations Organization for Education, Science, and Culture (UNESCO), along with the city.  Sigue leyendo

Varadero voted one of the world’s best beaches.

Resultado de imagen de varadero beachVaradero, Cuba’s number one beach resort, was voted third best in the world, according to the 2018 Travelers’ Choice Awards, sponsored by TripAdvisor, which honor the best and safest tourist destinations around the globe.

Cuba came in behind Grace Bay (Turks and Caicos Islands), and Baia Do Sancho in Brazil, on the list of the 25 best beaches on the planet.
