A refusal to exchange money into another currency for a Cuban visitor to Glasgow by a high-street chain has sparked protest among members of the public.
The incident took place on Sunday in Mark and Spencer’s Argyle Street store, when the visitor, a high profile Cuban actor visiting the city to attend a film festival, was refused the transaction on presenting their passport.
Film festival staff and members of the Latin American community in the city have called for a boycott of the chain after the actor was subjected to what they call “direct discrimination” as a result of their national origin.
