Cuban lawmakers reach consensus on draft bills

The lawmakers at Cuba’s National People’s Power Assembly on Monday reached consensus about two draft bills that will be submitted for their approval on October 28.

With the presence of President Miguel Diaz-Canel, the lawmakers learned about the changes made to the draft bills on the Foreign Service and on the Organization and Functioning of the Council of Ministers.

Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez explained that, in general, the draft bill on the activity of the foreign service was modified 37 times, among the changes proposed by the parliamentarians at the study session on October 20 and those made by the people by electronic mail.

Of them, 20 modifications were made to the document, while 11 were dealt with partially and six of them were explained in terms of why they had not been accepted.

The Draft Bill on the organization and functioning of the Council of State received 13 suggestions by the lawmakers, nine of whom proposed modifying the law and six were finally accepted and were turned into nine articles.

The population made 25 suggestions, and six of them were approved.
