Mexico closes borders with U.S. one more month due to Covid-19





Mexico will keep its northern border with the United States closed for another month due to the persistence of the Covid-19 pandemic in both countries, the Foreign Ministry confirmed in a statement Friday.
In the note the Foreign Affairs Secretariat notifies the Mexican citizens that the suspension of non-essential travel to the United States will be maintained at least until after September 20th when a new assessment will be made.

The notification recognizes that the decision implies a significant economic impact, but stresses that given the resurgence of infections in the southern states of the United States and the persistence of coronavirus in Mexico, it is considered best to extend the suspension for another month.

Mexico surpassed the half million confirmed accumulated of Covid-19 and 55,000 deaths since February 27th when the pandemic began, informed the Secretariat of Public Health by reporting 7,371 new cases in the last 24 hours with which the accumulated of confirmed is 505,751.
