Cuba expresses solidarity with US scientists.

Carlos Rodriguez, Vice-President of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba, expressed solidarity with more than 50 US scientists who have lost their jobs, supposedly for hiding collaboration with China.
In an article by the Cuban researcher, published in Juventud Tecnica magazine, Rodriguez said that there is no so far evidence of effective transfer of protected or sensitive information from US experts to others in China.

The statement by the Cuban Academy of Sciences takes place after a letter was published in Science. The journal condemned that until June 15, some 54 US scientists have resigned or been fired by their institutions, after they allegedly did not say their cooperation with China.

Many of the US scientists had projects funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH), the US government agency that distributes federal funds for biomedical research.

According to Science, some 399 scientists are being investigated by the NIH, 82% of them are Asian.

In addition, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has fingered 121 of them, while 44 have been flagged by their own institutions.
